It's Finished!

I finally finished my first quilt! I started in October with hopes to finish by Christmas so I could give it as a gift to Emily. On Christmas Eve my Mom, Sara, and Ben helped me tie around the edges and we just couldn't get it done in time. On Christmas we finished the tying, and all I had left was binding it. Well, I am a procrastinator and since it was already past the deadline I just couldn't get myself to complete it. Tonight, I decided I had to get it done and I finished it. I am very happy with my results. There are definitely things that I learned that I will do better next time.
This is the middle of the quilt. I was looking at my friend Sally's quilting books and I saw this wall hanging that I just loved so I decided to make it into a full quilt.I added stripes around the edges with checkerboards in the corners. On the checkerboard and stripes we tied it by hand. A big thank you goes to my mom, Ben and Sara for helping me tie these crazy x's that I decided I wanted.

In the middle I machine quilted it free form. I don't know the exact design name, but I had seen it somewhere before so I just went with it. It's hard to see in this picture, but it is the best I could get.

It was so much fun making this. I will definitely make another one some day.

Hey--I'm blog stalking you!

I love your quilt. It's really beautiful. Did you piece the design in the middle or is it a solid pannel that came that way?

I pieced it together. I cut out all the shapes and then appliqued them on the quilt pieces and sewed them all together.
